The starlings are singing!

You could call it singing.

At any rate, they are starlings.

These are grand looking starlings. Starlings round our way are treated with indifference, great posses of them knocking about the supermarket car parks chattering.

That is indeed true.

And it's probably an important element in the genius of this small piece that we do believe the starlings are there.

I love this poem's extremely compressed account of a mind discovering it is a subject by way of the self-analytic process of hearing itself think, and finding that disarming discovery quite odd, and even a bit funny.
